Welcome
Where does the time go?
A month ago, the trees were still bare and we were all wearing
long sleeves. Now, school is almost over and summer is just
around the corner.
Summer, of course, is the busiest time of year for the library.
We’re planning a full schedule of summer reading events for all
ages, including contests, free movie days, craft sessions, and
more. Not to mention all those books everyone has to read for
school (but we’ll try not to think of that right now!)
Every year, we need your help to make sure things run smoothly.
This year is no exception. Right now, we’re taking applications
for Teen Volunteers to assist us in this busy time. If you’ve
volunteered before with us, that’s great; we can use your
valuable experience. If not, we’d still like to have you work
with us. You’ll assist us with signing patrons up for summer
reading programs, shelving books, children’s programs…the list
goes on and on. But what we do want to emphasize is that
volunteering can be a rewarding experience (maybe even a fun
one) and it looks great on a resume or college application. You
may ask yourself whether you have enough experience. All we ask
is that you be between 12-18 years old and enjoy the Library.
That’s it!
Until that time, please don’t overlook the many free offerings
for YA patrons. We’ve got four events planned for May, including
a new release movie. I’m always happy to talk about books you’ve
read or want to read, upcoming releases, the latest trends, or
anything else that’s on your mind. I’d also encourage everyone
who visits regularly to attend our Teen Forum meetings so you
can share your opinions and ideas with me and your fellow patrons.
As always, I am here during regular Library hours; come and talk
to me anytime. You may also email me at hfach @ lavergne.org.
As they say, catch you on the flip side!
